Are you ready for a home robot?

I’ve been mulling over the idea of having robots at home, and honestly, I’m torn.

On one hand, the thought of a machine that could help with everyday tasks and chores is super appealing. I often imagine Rosie the robot will be a game changer in old age. I can imagine many beneficial ways to spend the newfound 2-3 hours a day.

On the other, it raises a few questions for me:

- I wonder about the quality, efficiency and love robots will bring to their jobs of chef, cleaner, scheduler, organizer, gardener, repairman, and care provider?

- I wonder how robots will adapt to the daily chaos of home life among kids, pets, varying schedules, and everyday surprises?

- I wonder about potential unintended consequences of home robots - changes in family roles, children growing up dictating orders and having no chores, couples no longer collaborating as they garden, cook, or host a party, and the reduction in everyday interactions, connection, and human touch.

Home robots are an exciting idea with plenty of unknowns.

What do you think? Will you be an early adopter of a home robot?
