What habits are you building this year?
What habits are you building this year?
As you step back to reflect on Q1, look beyond your goals progress to the habits you're forming.
In Sam Reese's article below he outlines habits the leaders I work with would agree are highly valuable.
I see a few additional habits also at the top of effective CEO habits:
- Regular cadence for key customer relationship building. CXO to CXO conversations that include listening, curiosity, learning, and generous sharing of insights and offers to help.
- Invoke the classic "management by walking around" (MBWA.) It still has magic for both the employee and the CEO. Consistent visits - to the floor, the field, the back office, the lab, or the branches - where you can live out values such as kindness, recognition, or appreciation and get a pulse on the culture.
- Personal habits for executives are largely around being present and connecting, e.g. put the phone away at home, share stories from your work day with the kids, take walks with spouse before dinner, and sacred date nights!
As you move into Q2 with intention, take a moment to reflect on your habits and where could further focus your attention and practices.
